It is 2024 and we are in a digital age with multiple video streaming platforms to access daily. Personally, I am scrolling through videos on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube many times a day and I would have to admit that I am addicted. Videos and video editing are also a part of my working life so it's hard for me to avoid it daily.
Starting off with my video habits that are not related to work, I am spending much time each day scrolling on TikTok. I have started to clear out who I am following on TikTok and trying to keep it to the same type of category - sports media. My favorite sports media creator on TikTok right now is Hannah Peery. She is working for the Houston Rockets as their social media person and on her channels she is posting videos such as "Day in the Life Working in NBA Social", and also loads of tips and tricks to get into the business of sports media. I really enjoy watching her videos because my dream career is to work in sports media.
Other than TikTok I am also using Netflix as a video streaming site a lot. Even though I am usually very busy and typically do not have a lot of time to sit down and watch Netflix, the times I get to do it I can't stop watching. I am currently watching season 2 of the tennis series
Break Point and I am completely obsessed with it, probably because I am a tennis player myself. The series follows some of the best tennis players in the world and captures their routines before, during, and after the big tournaments that are being played. Watching the series I have noticed some editing mistakes and I can tell that the editor of the show doesn't know much about tennis since how it's edited together does not make sense. For example, they would put clips together from two completely different points, pretending it is from the same point. It is a bit silly to watch but it is still a very good series.
When I am eating lunch I usually watch some YouTube at the same time. I am mainly watching Swedish YouTubers such as
Nathalie Danielsson,
Mirabell, and
Alice Stenlöf. They are usually posting videos such as lifestyle videos, interviewing videos, and travel videos.
I am a content creator for SAU Athletics and for SAU's tennis team so looking through videos is something I do a lot. I do video edits for the different sports at SAU and I am managing the tennis team's social media accounts. I attend every sports event that I possibly can on campus and when I am done filming there I usually have around 100 video clips that I then have to go through to put together into a video. It takes a lot of time but I love doing what I do for my job and once I get through the videos I can do the editing part of it which I love the most. I love putting together videos with different types of music or sounds. When I am filming the videos I am mainly looking for the emotions appearing in the sports events and trying to get that shown in the video edits as well.
