2 - Programming Trends

When I was a little kid, I watched movies on a DVD player or in the cinemas, and that was all. Fast forwarding to today, our movie streaming trends are completely different. Even though I can miss opening up the DVD to pop out the movie I was going to watch, and then plug it in the DVD player, I do think the online movie and TV show streaming today is much more convenient. Problems that I went through as a kid when it came to movie watching were for example losing the disc that the movie was on, or not having the movie I wanted to watch on a disc. With the right movie streaming website today, you can watch almost anything you want from wherever you are, and you don't have to worry about losing the disc for the movie, because there is no disc. 

Amazon Prime is one of the platforms that I am using the most today. I am lucky enough to be able to use the streaming site without needing to pay for it myself since me and my boyfriend are using the same account and he is paying for the account. Prime Video offers unlimited streaming of movies and TV episodes for paid or free trial members. With amazon Channels you can watch your favorite shows and movies from HBO, SHOWTIME, and STARZ channels. The first thing I watched on Amazon Prime was the series "The Summer I Turned Pretty". 

"The Summer I Turned Pretty" tells the story of Isabel, "Belly "Conklin, a 15-year-old girl who spends her summers at Cousins Beach with her mother and older brother, along with her mother's lifelong best friend and her sons, Conrad and Jeremiah. Belly has been friends with Conrad and Jeremiah since she was a child, but the summer she turns 16, things start to change. Belly is starting to develop feelings for both brothers, and she must decide who she wants to be with. 

I think this series gained the popularity it did because it is a coming-of-age story about love, friendship, and growing up. Belly is a very relatable character who is struggling to figure out who she is and what she wants. She is also dealing with the complicated relationships she has with Conrad and Jeremiah. Conrad is the older brother, and he is more mysterious. Jeremiah is the younger brother, and he is more outgoing and carefree. Belly is drawn to both brothers for different reasons, and she must decide who she wants to be with. Throughout the summer, Belly grows and changes. She learns to trust herself and her instincts. She also learns that it is important to be honest with herself and others. 

Other movies and TV shows that are currently trending on Amazon Prime is Wonka. 

Wonka is a 2023 musical fantasy film directed by Paul King, who co-wrote the screenplay with Simon Farnaby based on a story by King. It tells the origin story of Willy Wonka, a character in the 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, featuring his early days as a chocolatier. Thimothée Chalamet plays the main character Wonka in the movie. "To work on something that will have an uncynical young audience, that was just a big joy. That's why I was drawn to it," Chalamet told Vogue. "In a time and climate of intense political rhetoric, when there's so much bad news all the time, this is hopefully going to be a piece of chocolate". It's Willy Wonka's origin story, showing how he became the enigmatic chocolate factory owner. In this movie, Chalament plays Willy in his younger years, as he takes on the all-powerful Chocolate Cartel to open his first sweets shop.

I have only good things to say about Prime Videos and I don't think that is ever going to change.
